Dana Roskey: Executive Director

Dana Roskey has a Masters in Education and has worked in the field of education for fifteen years. He has worked for the Minneapolis Public Schools system and North Hennepin Community College in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. His connection with the Ethiopian-American community in Minnesota dates back over ten years. Currently, he spends most of his time in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, overseeing the new Tesfa Foundation school. |

Deneen Gannon: Vice Chair

Deneen Gannon holds dual majors in Speech Communications and Political Science from Minnesota State University. She is a Program Manager for IBM, where she has worked for the past 10 years. Her previous board involvement includes holding a Board of Directors position for the House of Charity (HOC), a local nonprofit assisting the Minneapolis community with education, recovery, and outreach. Deneen also holds a Board of Directors position for the Project Management Institute (PMI). She is on the PMI International Development Specific Interest Group (IDSIG), where she holds the position of board Secretary. |

Therese Tennessen: Secretary

Therese Tennessen graduated from Coe College in Cedar Rapids Iowa with a double major in Business and Psychology. She spent nearly 20 years in the Financial Services Industry before “retiring” to start a family. Corporate responsibilities included marketing and market research; business systems analysis and project management; and management of a customer sales and service department. Since high school, Therese has been involved in volunteer tutoring of young children adolescents and adults. She’s tutored in music, English as a Second Language, mathematics and G.E.D. Therese spends her spare time reading, knitting, and staying in good enough shape to keep up with her active toddler.

André Renfro: Board Member

André Renfro holds a major in Child Psychology, from Mira Costa College in California. He is currently employed with IBM, where he has worked for 3 years, and was previously employed with American Express Financial Advisors. André has been actively volunteering for the past 10 years. His experience includes volunteer efforts for MAP (The Minnesota Aids Project), which includes participation in the annual Aids Walk. He also volunteers at PSP (People Serving People), where he mentors residents. André volunteers for the House of Charity (HOC), where he assists as a teacher for their English as a Second Language program. In addition, he volunteers for the Berean Missionary Baptist Church day-care, where he teaches young children how to use computers. |

Roxana Linares: Board Member

Roxana Linares is Centro's Director of Education. She has ten years' experience in teaching. In addition to her undergraduate degree in her native Peru, Ms. Linares has a Master's Degree in Educational Policy and Administration, with a focus on Comparative and International Education from the University of Minnesota.

Alice Maday: Board Member

Alice M. Maday received her Ph.D. in Curriulum and Instruction (Early Childhood Education: Focus in Literacy) in October 1999 from the University of Minnesota. She earned an Early Childhood Education Master’s degree from Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. Her Elementary Education with a specialty in Kindergarten Bachelor’s degree came from Mankato State Teacher’s College.
Alice has taught at the University of Minnesota, St. Cloud State University, and is a second-term member of the Minnesota Association for the Education of Young Children Board representing the Southern district of the state.

Todd Schneider: Technology Chair

Todd Schneider holds a BS in Communications from the University of Wisconsin. He is currently the Test Lab Manager on the American Express and Ameriprise accounts with IBM, for whom he has worked since 1997. Todd has extensive experience with Intel-based PC hardware and all Microsoft operating systems. He also repairs and upgrades home computers as a side job. Todd volunteers at the House Of Charity (HOC) and is a sustaining member of Minnesota Public Radio. He enjoys listening to many different styles of music and plays Texas Hold'em poker whenever he has the chance.

Scott Wolf: Board Member

Scott Wolf holds a major in International Relations from California State University, Chico. He currently works as a Commercial Services Rep at Fireman's Funds Insurance Company in Minneapolis. Prior to that Scott worked for three years at the Minneapolis YWCA in sales and management and continues to work part time at the YWCA as a Building Supervisor. Scott has a five year banking background with Wells Fargo, and four years at a pharmaceutical wholesale company. Scott has been a volunteer for the Aliveness Project, KFAI community radio, and local political campaigns. In his spare time he plays in band. He currently lives in Minneapolis.

Troy Nellis: Board Member

Troy Nellis started his professional career as a radio station news director. He also dabbled in television sports reporting, retail management, greenhouse management and media sales before his career as the Director of the Service Learning program at North Hennepin Community College finally found him about a decade ago. He is an avid fan of music, collects classic vinyl (78's, 45's) and owns two restored jukeboxes. Troy enjoys relaxing outdoors whether it be hunting, fishing, gardening, or tearing up the mini-golf course. But most of all he's a dedicated dad to his son Alex, whom Troy describes as "the center of my universe."
